Welcome to Humberston Cloverfields Academy. Our school is situated on the same site as Humberston Academy and Humberston Park Special School. We are very fortunate to have beautiful grounds that surround the school, including a huge playing field, a new purpose-built Early Years Unit for Nursery and Reception pupils, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and recently added play equipment in two playgrounds.

Eleven members of staff have achieved Level 1 in Makaton and use this important skill to help our children communicate.

Four members of staff, two in EYFS and two in KS1 have completed PECS training so are able to effectively support all learners to communicate and express their needs.

The Head of School is a Primary Mastery Specialist and is working to embed a mastery approach to Maths in school.

Late Registration

Being late to school can have a considerable impact over the whole school year. The table below shows you just how much time can be missed over a year just by being 5 minutes late to school every day:

5 minutes late every day = 3 days of school lost a year

10 minutes late every day = 6.5 days of school lost a year

15 minutes late every day = 10 days of school lost a year

20 minutes late every day = 13 days of school lost a year

30 minutes late every day = 19 days of school lost a year

Absence Reporting

It is the parent’s/carer’s responsibility to notify school on the first day of a pupil’s absence giving a full reason for the absence and when they expect the child to return to school. If we do not receive a reason for absence a letter will be sent to you and if we have no response to the letter the absence will be marked as`unauthorised’.

Leave of Absence

At this present time, if a holiday is taken during term time a Penalty Notice will be issued and the absence will be marked as unauthorised. You will be required to attend a meeting with Miss Nicholson to discuss your request for Leave of Absence. Please come to the school office if you need a form.

Persistent Absentee

If your child’s attendance falls below 90% they will be classed as a Persistent Absentee no matter what reason is given for absence. A letter will be sent to make you aware of this. The national average for attendance is 96% and we strive to achieve this target.
